Tree:
The tree grows to max 180" in height and 3" to
4" max in diameter |
The
Timber:
An attractive wood whether it has a heavy fiddleback to
broken mottle figure to a bee's wing. Color ranges from pale
yellow, to pale brown and sometimes a tan-pink shade. Straight
grain and a very lustrous wood. |
Strength:
Medium density with a weight of, 30 to 36 pounds per cubic
foot. Not particularly durable because it has little natural
defense against decay, fungi, and termites. However, it does
respond well to preservative treatments. |
Working
Qualities:
Fairly easy to saw and machine. |
Supplies:
Moderate supply. Average to high in price, depending on
quality of figure. |
